National Award Received - 20th January 2010
We are delighted to have been re-awarded the "Patient Partnership Quality Mark" (PPQM) by The College of Chiropractors for the period 2010-2012. This award recognises excellence in meeting patient expectations. The clinic was amongst the first in the country to receive the award in 2007, and are proud to have maintained the highest standards that this award requires.

NICE Guideines Published - 27th May 2009
The new NICE national guidelines for chronic low back pain (pain present for over 6 weeks) state that GPs should offer patients a choice of an exercise class, a course of acupuncture, or a course of manual therapy (as provided by chiropractors). These guidelines have been reached by reviewing what is the most effective management of back pain.
Increasing Hours - 4th February 2009
Getting an appointment with Stuart Smellie on a Tuesday and Friday has become increasingly difficult, particularly at the peak times of the day. In response to this, as from 1st April 2009 he will be working in Cheltenham one extra day each week. His new days will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Stuart will be in his Bristol clinic on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

After over 2 years of development, our bespoke practice management software has finally gone live. This should result in a smoother more organised system for patients and staff alike. It is networked to updated computers in all rooms of the clinic, and will improve all the "paperwork" of the practice enormously.

New Website Goes Live - 5th May 2008
After a long wait, the new improved website is back. Hopefully there is something for everybody with information about the clinic and all the services that we offer, clinical information pages on a range of subjects, and the ever-popular exercise pages with photographs and explanations of a variety of stretching and core stability exercises.

Rehabilitation Programme - 11th February 2008
After a length review by all the clinical staff in both Cheltenham and our practice in Bristol, the new rehabilitation programme has been launched. Research in this field is being updated constantly, and it is vital to keep at the cutting edge. Rehabilitation aims to strengthen specific muscle groups that are often responsible for regularly recurring conditions.

In dealing with musculoskeletal conditions, we are keen to ensure that we are doing everything possible to help our patient recover. This includes some degree of nutritional support. After reviewing all the literature, we have decided to provide just 3 different angles. These include a multivitamin/mineral package, an anti-inflammatory group (glucosamine and fish oil), and a calcium supplement.
