Skelian is proud to sponsor the Leadon Vale Cycling Club that was formed in 2013 as part of the Sport England initiative to celebrate the legacy of the 2012 London Olympics. The Club has a growing membership with riders of all abilities and a real emphasis on cycling being fun for everyone, whether that is a relaxing ride around the lanes, or challenging yourself to "go a bit further".  Club rides leave from Corse and Staunton Cricket Club every Sunday morning, and are split into different groups according to speed and distance. The Benefits of Cycling

Regular cycling can improve your fitness, reduce stress, and help you to lose weight. It is a low-impact type of exercise, so it's easier on your joints than running or other high-impact aerobic activities. Contrary to public perception, cycling is not a fitness activity that solely involves the legs. It builds strength in a holistic manner since every part of the body is involved.  Furthermore, it improves muscle function gradually, with little risk of over exercise or strain.

Regular cycling strengthens leg muscles and is great for the mobility of hip and knee joints. Another important advantage is that it improves coordination. The cardiovascular benefits are also well established.  A study of 10,000 civil servants suggests that those who cycled 20 miles a week were 50% less likely to suffer heart disease than their non-cycling colleagues. The best way to build cardiovascular fitness on the bike is to ride for at least 150 minutes every week.
