Is Your Phone Becoming a Pain in the Neck

Over half of mobile phone users suffer numbness or neck aches. One study discovered that 83% of people reported hand or neck pain while texting. The problem is due to bending the neck and looking down, which 90% of people do when using their smartphones. This is resulting in a “forward head posture”. This can result in neck pain, headaches, reduced lung capacity, and lead to chronic pain.

Vitamin D Deficiency is a Major Problem - but with a Simple Solution

Vitamin D deficiency is extremely common. A recent study showed that over half of adults in the UK did not have enough vitamin D. Skelian Chiropractic Clinic test results show that 80% of those tested were below optimal levels, with 1 in 5 being severely deficient. There is clearly a major problem. Vitamin D in essential for growth and strong bones, but also for numerous other health conditions. Often the only symptoms are vague aches and tiredness. Vitamin D is produced in the skin with UVB from sunlight, but the sun is not strong enough for 6 months through the winter. Vitamin D supplements are the answer in many cases. Things YOU can do to help Relieve Back and Neck Pain

A new survey has revealed that up to two thirds of people in the South West have suffered with back or neck pain for up to 10 years. 41% admit that they have never done anything to actively protect their backs. There are lots of reasons, but the most significant is that modern lifestyles are putting an increasing amount of strain on our backs and necks. Sitting less and exercising more would help prevent many problems in the first place, but there is good evidence that being proactive in a number of other ways can make a real difference when you are actually in pain. The worst thing to do is nothing.

Take Regular Breaks to Combat Neck and Back Pain

As part of the British Chiropractic Association Chiropractic Awareness Week (13 – 19 April), the team at Skelian Chiropractic Clinic is urging people to take regular breaks at work to help combat neck and back pain. The advice comes as new research finds of those who have suffered from back and neck pain, working causes a pain in the neck and back for almost one in four (24%) people in the South West.
