My experience with Skelian has been overwhelming positive. I have had lower back pain on and off for a good few years but Jamie has been able to assist with making things more comfortable for me since beginning treatment. I can’t thank Jamie enough for giving me the ability to train again without fear of enduring discomfort afterwards. Simply amazing service!!

I was struggling with some lower back pain and sciatica and nothing seemed to be working until I came across this fantastic young man, I work in the trade and everyone kept telling me i just need to change careers to fix my back, but he diagnosed my issues within a session and managed to fix me up in a few regular sessions and gave me some great managing techniques. Highly recommend people with any issues to get in contact, many thanks again for fixing my back pain!

I initially contacted Brad , a physiotherapist, from Cheltenham, after a recommendation, as I had been suffering with problems with my shoulder for a while. I then decided to make an appointment with Brad. I cannot fault his service. He was excellent in diagnosing my frozen shoulder after a thorough examination. He then manipulated my shoulder and muscles around the shoulder. He was very thorough and informative and talked me through everything he was doing and explained everything. He gave me exercises I could do at home. He kept in touch with me after this examination to catch up on my progress. I visited him several times for manipulation and exercises and, happily, my shoulder is now fully functional with no lasting effects. I found Brad to be very friendly, very informative and an excellent Physiotherapist. I would not hesitate to visit him again should I need a Physiotherapist.

Acute Back Pain

Acute back pain is pain that comes from or around the spine that has only been around for a short time. On this page we look at symptoms, causes and treatment options.

What is Acute Back Pain?

Acute back pain refers to pain involving your spine. What makes the back pain acute is the length of time that you have been experiencing the pain.

Pain has three categories according to the length of time you’ve been experiencing the problem:

  • Acute (less than 3 months)
  • Sub-acute (less than 6 months but more than 3 months)
  • Chronic (longer than 6 months)

How do I get acute back pain?

Acute back pain usually begins when an injury to the local tissues and joints in the spine occurs. Pain is the body’s way of telling you that something is wrong. Sometimes the pain can only last seconds, typically feeling like a sharp or stabbing pain. In other cases, acute back pain can feel like a dull ache or a constant “nagging” type of pain or discomfort.

How do I treat acute back pain?

Acute back pain is generally not a serious condition. It will affect most adults at some point during their life. In most cases, the pain should subside within a couple of weeks. If the pain continues it might be worth seeking professional help.

At Skelian we offer a variety of excellent services performed by our highly trained expert healthcare professionals that can help you with your acute back pain.
