I have been seeing Jamie for the last couple of months, and absolutely can’t recommend him enough. I love his holistic approach and looking at the bigger picture to try and piece together the reasons why my neck and hips are so painful. I always feel anxious when having to go to someone different when it comes to my health, but Jamie is so kind, friendly and understanding of people and how they are feeling. We have had some great results so far with my treatment and feel we are making some headway with all my aches and pains. If you are feeling nervous and not sure what to expect, Jamie is the guy for you.

I recently had a sports massage with Brad, due to extended periods of computer use, I suffer with neck and shoulder tension. Brad was able to work out all the knots in my back and shoulders. I have definitively felt the benefits ever since.

Brad gave me physio after I damaged my ankle ligaments playing rugby. Excellent in helping relieve the swelling initially then worked with me to help with recovery . Brad helped with taping up once I got back playing as well and my return was very swift

Brad has been working on my back and shoulders mostly over the last year and has given me exercises to do in my own time to strengthen and stretch the effected areas. I have recently had knee surgery so will be looking to him for some more physio work to help me achieve my goals in recovery! Brad offers a Fabulous service, good knowledge and a friendly face! Big thumbs up!!!

I really look forward to my adjustments with Jamie. I always walk out feeling looser and grounded. I’m quite inquisitive and he answers my questions fully and has a great sense of humour. I’m so grateful he’s helped me feel like me again. I highly recommend going to see him!! 🙏🏻

My experience with Skelian has been overwhelming positive. I have had lower back pain on and off for a good few years but Jamie has been able to assist with making things more comfortable for me since beginning treatment. I can’t thank Jamie enough for giving me the ability to train again without fear of enduring discomfort afterwards. Simply amazing service!!

Positive, friendly, professional attitude from reception staff to Jamie himself who has good understanding of neurotypical and neurodiverse persons and their varying needs.

General Aches and Pains

General aches and pains are common complaints that affect people of all ages. Whether it’s a persistent backache, a nagging headache, or discomfort in the joints, these sensations can significantly impact our daily lives.

Causes of General Aches and Pains

Understanding the underlying causes of aches and pains is crucial for effective management. Below are some common factors.

Stress

Stress affects not only our mental health but also our physical well-being. It can lead to inflammation and heightened sensitivity, resulting in aches and pains.

Dehydration

Proper hydration is essential for normal bodily functions. Dehydration can cause muscle cramps and exacerbate discomfort.

Lack of Sleep

Inadequate sleep makes us more sensitive to pain and worsens existing symptoms. Quality sleep is essential for overall health.

Infections (Cold, Flu, and COVID-19)

Inflammatory responses during infections can lead to generalised aches and pains.

Anemia

Anaemia, characterised by insufficient red blood cells, affects oxygen delivery to tissues and can cause discomfort.

Vitamin D Deficiency

Low vitamin D levels are associated with muscle pain and weakness.

Fibromyalgia

A chronic condition symptoms include widespread pain, fatigue, and tender points in muscles.

Postural Stress

Poor posture can contribute to muscle tension, imbalances, and misalignment, leading to discomfort.

Functional or Strength Imbalances

Imbalances in muscle strength and flexibility can affect movement efficiency and contribute to aches and pains.

Treatments for General Aches and Pains

Effective management involves a holistic approach. Here are evidence-based strategies:

  • Stay Active: Engage in regular physical activity, prioritize tasks, and pace yourself to prevent overexertion.
  • Learn About Pain: Understand the mechanisms behind persistent pain and how it affects your nervous system.
  • Improve Mental Health: Meditation, relaxation techniques, and stress management play a crucial role in pain relief.
  • Optimise Sleep: Prioritise quality sleep to aid tissue repair and hormone release.
  • Chiropractic Care: Chiropractors use manual adjustments to address musculoskeletal issues, promoting better mobility and pain relief.
  • Physiotherapy: Physiotherapists offer exercises, stretches, and techniques to improve strength and flexibility.
