I have been seeing Jamie for the last couple of months, and absolutely can’t recommend him enough. I love his holistic approach and looking at the bigger picture to try and piece together the reasons why my neck and hips are so painful. I always feel anxious when having to go to someone different when it comes to my health, but Jamie is so kind, friendly and understanding of people and how they are feeling. We have had some great results so far with my treatment and feel we are making some headway with all my aches and pains. If you are feeling nervous and not sure what to expect, Jamie is the guy for you.

I recently had a sports massage with Brad, due to extended periods of computer use, I suffer with neck and shoulder tension. Brad was able to work out all the knots in my back and shoulders. I have definitively felt the benefits ever since.

Brad gave me physio after I damaged my ankle ligaments playing rugby. Excellent in helping relieve the swelling initially then worked with me to help with recovery . Brad helped with taping up once I got back playing as well and my return was very swift

Brad has been working on my back and shoulders mostly over the last year and has given me exercises to do in my own time to strengthen and stretch the effected areas. I have recently had knee surgery so will be looking to him for some more physio work to help me achieve my goals in recovery! Brad offers a Fabulous service, good knowledge and a friendly face! Big thumbs up!!!

I really look forward to my adjustments with Jamie. I always walk out feeling looser and grounded. I’m quite inquisitive and he answers my questions fully and has a great sense of humour. I’m so grateful he’s helped me feel like me again. I highly recommend going to see him!! 🙏🏻

My experience with Skelian has been overwhelming positive. I have had lower back pain on and off for a good few years but Jamie has been able to assist with making things more comfortable for me since beginning treatment. I can’t thank Jamie enough for giving me the ability to train again without fear of enduring discomfort afterwards. Simply amazing service!!

Knee Pain

Knee pain is a common ailment that can arise from a wide array of conditions. It can affect individuals of all ages and can significantly impact one’s quality of life. Understanding the various causes and treatment options is crucial for effective management and relief.

About Knee Pain

Knee pain can manifest in many forms, from a dull, constant ache to sharp, acute pain that prohibits movement. It may be localised to a specific area of the knee or be diffused throughout the joint.

Conditions That Cause Knee Pain

  • Arthritis: Including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and post-traumatic arthritis.
Injuries: Such as ACL injuries, fractures, and tears of the meniscus.
  • Mechanical Problems: Like patellar tracking disorder and loose bodies within the joint.
  • Inflammatory Conditions: Including bursitis, tendinitis, and Baker’s cyst.
  • Infections: Such as septic arthritis.
  • Degenerative Changes: Resulting from age or overuse.
  • Metabolic Disorders: Like gout, which can cause uric acid crystals to accumulate in the joint.
  • Structural Abnormalities: Such as genu valgum (knock-knees) or genu varum (bowlegs).
  • Growth-Related Issues: Osgood-Schlatter disease and Sinding-Larsen-Johansson syndrome, are typically seen in adolescents.
  • Referred Pain: From the hips, lower back, or other areas that can cause discomfort in the knee.

Diagnosing  Knee Pain

The treatment for knee pain is dependent on the underlying cause.  We offer diagnostic ultrasound at Skelian Clinic. This form of imaging is used to help accurately identify the cause of the problem.

Treatment Options for Knee Pain

  • Manual therapies: Such as massage, chiropractic care and physiotherapy use hands-on techniques to help with symptoms.
  • Medications: Analgesics, NSAIDs, and disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) for certain types of arthritis.
  • Physiotherapy: Strengthening and flexibility exercises, ultrasound, and heat therapy.
  • Injections: Including corticosteroids and hyaluronic acid injections. Both options are available in house at Skelian in Cheltenham.
  • Surgery: Arthroscopy, osteotomy, and joint replacement may be considered for severe cases.
