Stuart has over 25 years of experience since qualifying as a chiropractor in 1991. He is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Chiropractors and the European Academy of Chiropractic. He established Skelian Chiropractic Clinic in 1998 with the sole aim of providing the very highest quality of patient care. In addition to working in the clinic, Stuart is the Director of Academic Affairs for The Royal College of Chiropractors and a member of the College's Health Policy Unit. He also sits on the Professional Conduct Committee of the General Chiropractic Council, and is an external examiner.
In his role at the Royal College, Stuart leads a campaign to raise standards and improve quality of care by promoting evidence-based, patient-centred approaches, and the writing of the Royal College's quality standards. He has been involved with post-graduate education for many years, holding a variety of positions on the executive councils of both the British Chiropractic Association and the Royal College of Chiropractors. Stuart lectures on a variety of subjects including post-graduate education, inter-professional communication, clinical governance and professional standards. He has a special interest in pain management and ergonomics, and is a member of the Pain Faculty of the Royal College. Stuart is married with 3 children and lives just outside Cheltenham where his wife, Vivien, is a GP.
Alex graduated from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic and worked in both Bristol and Cambridge before finally settling in Cheltenham. He is a rock climber, trail runner and surfer, and when not enjoying the outdoors, he is also the official sports specialist chiropractor at Skelian. Initially coming from a rugby and athletics background, Alex developed a love for an active healthy lifestyle, as well as being performance driven. He is a firm believer that the key to a happy and fulfilled life starts with being active and eating the right foods. Alex aims to not only get his patients out of pain but also to make them more robust to get the most out of life. He applies the same functional and mechanical approach to all his patients, regardless of their age or the severity of their complaint, striving to get to the root of the issue and find a solution to the problem. Over the years, Alex has worked with all sorts of people in the world of sport, including golfers, swimmers, cyclists, weight lifters, football players, track and field athletes, and more. He is registered with the General Chiropractic Council, is a Member of the Royal College of Chiropractors, and a Licentiate of the Sports and Exercises Faculty
Dean qualified from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth obtaining a Master's Degree in Chiropractic, in 2013. He is registered with the General Chiropractic Council, is a member of the British Chiropractic Association and a Licentiate of the Royal College of Chiropractors. In practice, Dean encourages his patients to take an active role in their care, and will always give specific exercises and lifestyle advice to help where appropriate. Dean has an interest in managing chronic lower back disorders, whether that be a simple recurring pain, to a more constant and persistent problem. It was through rugby that Dean was introduced to Chiropractic at the age of 15 where he sought help from the Chiropractor based at his rugby club, who helped him to eventually reach playing and representing Gloucestershire. He now has an interest in helping other sports-people and athletes reach their goals, whether that is through reducing pain or simply helping with performance. He has previously helped a number of sports professionals and last year provided pitch side cover for a local rugby team.
Claire qualified in 2002 with a Masters Degree in Chiropractic. Since then she has not stopped adding to her clinic skills and has attended numerous post-graduate courses in a wide range of different areas, including Dry Needling (medical acupuncture), Paediatrics, Kinesio Taping and Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT). During a recent maternity break, she undertook additional training in the assessment and treatment of extremity conditions. Claire joined the team at Skelian in 2007, after initially working as a locum. In her younger years she competed, and was a qualified coach, in gymnastics and trampolining. This fascination with form and function led her toward a career in chiropractic, helping people perform at their optimum, whether in the sporting arena or in everyday life. She is a keen advocate of exercise and rehabilitation to support recovery. Claire has a wealth of experience treating patients, from the young to the very elderly, and for a wide range of different complaints. As a mother to two young daughters, she particularly enjoys providing care to both expectant mothers and children. Claire is registered with the General Chiropractic Council, is a member of the British Chiropractic Association, and a Licentiate of The Royal College of Chiropractors.
Ben lives in Cheltenham, but grew up in Pembrokeshire, South Wales. He is registered with the General Chiropractic Council, is a member of the British Chiropractic Association and a Licentiate of the Royal College of Chiropractors. Ben graduated with a Masters degree from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic and has additional training in sports kinesiology taping and myofascial dry needling (medical acupuncture). He has a background in both gymnastics and rugby which has led to a strong belief in understanding the function of the body as a whole and not simply focusing on the area of complaint. Ben treats people with a wide range of different ages and backgrounds, and for a vast variety of conditions. He has a particular interest in athletes, not only in supporting them when recovering from injury, but also helping them to optimise their overall performance. Away from work, Ben still enjoys his sport and the outdoor life that he grew up with in Pembrokeshire.
Sarah is a Malvern girl and has lived there all her life. After her two boys started school, she decided on a career change and return to college to study massage. That was some years ago now, and Sarah has significant experience in over seven different massage techniques, including Sports and Holistic Massage. This gives her the luxury of being able to choose the technique that meets the individual needs of each patient. Sarah's goal is to help patients to lead a pain free life whether it is recovering from injury, or maintaining a balanced healthy body, or simply allowing oneself to relax and unwind and recover from the stresses of everyday life.
